Diagnosis and Triage

The first step of fixing what is broken is to know what is broken. Examining your patient will reveal any cuts or burns on their body. Once you know what is wrong you can target the wounded body part and apply the appropriate treatment. Brute damage can be treated with bandages or gauze while Burn damage can be treated with ointment.

Some damage is not externally visible, like toxin build up or suffocation. You can identify these by the patient's behavior. Vomiting is a sign of poisoning while gasping is a sign of suffocation. Both of these need to be treated with chemicals rather than physical objects.

Some damage causes other damage types while not being easily spotted. Radiation or cloneloss is often spotted through hair loss or weakness or fainting. This will need treatment that is not easily found outside of the Medbay area.

Broken Bones

Full Body Prosthetics

Full Body Prosthetics (referred to as FBPs) are entirely synthetic. The treatment strategy is the same as used on organics (identify damaged parts and apply treatment) only the treatment method is different. FBPs use a welding tool to repair BRUTE damage and Cable Coils to repair BURN damage.

Transport

If you need to bring a person to somewhere with actual medical facilities you will need to GRAB them. Pulling a body will cause further damage while grabbing will prevent it.

Overdoses

When a human gains the effects of a chemical it is counted against their Neural System Accumulation (referred to as NSA) cap. Cyberware also reduces the NSA cap and some perks can increase it. When a person has too many chemicals in their system at the same time or too much of a specific chemical they start overdosing. To treat an overdose it is necessary to purge their bloodstream of the offending chemicals and to prevent more chemicals from being processed.

The fastest way to prevent more chemicals from being processed is to empty the patient's stomach by inducing vomiting. Vomiting will empty the patient's stomach of all reagents.

Removing chemicals from a bloodstream requires a process of removing blood from the patient and isolating the blood from the chemicals. This is best done through dialysis functions in a Sleeper treatment bed to take blood out and a Chemmaster to isolate blood to inject back in.

Dealing with the Dead

First aid can be applied to dead people to ensure revival. However it is important to otherwise place the body inside a cryobag as soon as possible to pause the revival timer. Bodies can only be revived within 15 minutes of time of death, plus however long the body is in the cryobag.
