Description

As the Paramedic you are the primary medical responder aboard CEV-Eris and, in all likelihood, will be the first to respond to medical incidents. While you may lack the degree of biological competence that the Doctor, Chemist or Biolab Officer have, you possess a greater degree of robustness and toughness which makes you more suited for dealing with the hazardous fauna that also calls Eris home.

Please remember, you are not incapable of performing other medical roles and may be called upon to act outside of your stated duties in an emergency situation.

Role

As a Paramedic, you are the lowest-ranked rank-and-file of the Medical-section of Moebius, and your downtime may often have you acting as a go-between and/or gopher between medical and the rest of the ship. Aside from that, you may also have your eyes glued to the suit sensors, ready to respond if someone so much as sneezes.

The most well-known, and most essential, part of your work as a Paramedic is to act as medical's EMTs. You are the emergency rescue crew, in other words. When a call goes out over [Common] screaming for "MEDICAL TO MAINTENANCE", you're the one that responds. It's your job to get there fast, find out who's hurt, and get them back to medbay as fast as possible so that the Doctors can fix them up. It's your job to perform basic treatments in the field, if necessary and reasonable, and to keep your patients stable long enough to survive the trip. Trauma kits, CPR, and whatever concoctions the Chemist has made are your weapons in the war of first aid. Be sure to have your equipment on your person, or close to hand, at all times.

To cut a long story short, your job is to make sure everything gets to where it needs to be, as fast as it can possibly get there. Whether it's patients, medication, or just another pair of hands, you supply the things that keep medbay running.

Guide

Paramedics frequently act as orderlies for the Moebius Medbay. As such you'll often be in charge of making sure the cryocells are operational, that all tools are laid out for surgery and herding the overly entitled masses that make up the crew. As you will be often asked to go into maintenance and retrieve the wounded or dead, it is recommended that you are properly equipped to deal with pests with a weapon or avoid hazards like wire splicing.

When it comes to finding the patients your friend is the Suit Monitoring Program on your tablet computer. The tablet is a unique variant that provides at a glance the approximate direction to the patient as well as whether they are above or below you on another floor. Once you have found the patient stabilize them and grab them to move them gently. Pulling patients makes the wounds worse.

One of the biggest limitations to Paramedic is that it does not natively get access to Moebius Chemistry, so you are dependent on having a doctor or a chemist to make medicines for you. Otherwise, you need to find someone to grant you access to the Chemistry office.

Tips

  • Bring work boots! Work boots protect against wire splices that will otherwise shock you.
  • The Suit Monitoring program can reveal types of damage. Someone with a lot of Suffocation damage may be in an area without air.
  • You can dispense with your PDA as the tablet computer. You can swap components over with a screwdriver.
